Youth Ministries

Opportunities for the youth abound in our church. St. Matthew's participates with the other Episcopal Churches in Lincoln to form a strong Episcopal Youth Community (EYC). We also encourage our youth to participate in Diocesan sponsored events.

EYC meets regularly during the school year on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm. Meetings rotate quarterly between churches. We always start with dinner and fellowship and then have a program using the Journey to Adulthood Curriculum. This program is divided into three groups: Rite13 for youth in 6th-8th grade, J2A for youth in 9th & 10th grade, and Young Adults in Church (YAC) for youth in 11th & 12th grade. Each group participates in additional recreational and service work activities. Some of these special activities will be solely for the purpose of each individual group; most involve the whole Youth Community.

The Diocesan programs each year are: Mission Trips, Summer Camp, Happening (based on Cursillo), and Rallies. Every third year the youth attend the Episcopal Youth Event.
